About Us

As the flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, PCMH is leading the way in acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services. But it’s in our work environment that you’ll find our teams building a sense of family and closeness that permeates everything we do.

Our 800+ bed tertiary referral facility serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at ECU and we provide healthcare to more than 1.3 million people in 29 counties. In an average year, we see about 36,000 inpatients and more than 266,000 outpatients in our Greenville facilities. Our regional Level I Trauma Center is complete with an air and ground emergency transport system.

The commitment to our employees and patients extends to The East Carolina Heart Institute. Recently expanded in 2009, the institute has established a reputation as one of the nation’s premier institutions for cardiac care and groundbreaking research. The center’s focus is programs from prevention and management of risk factors to complex surgical techniques.
